Snowboarding Season is Here - new videos out now

Monday, September 1st, 2008

To usher in the first dusting of blissful snow for the ‘08-’09 season, Absinthe Films and Milosport held the world premiere for the new Absinthe video at the Tower Theatre on Saturday night. The movie is awesome and got me stoked to ride some pow. Check out a little highlight video of the premiere and follow the links below to see the real teaser for “Ready” - Absinthe’s 2008 release.

BMX Legend Tim “Fuzzy” Hall passing it on

Sunday, August 17th, 2008

When you have been riding as long as Fuzzy has, you learn pretty much everything you need to know about the industry. Having kids, he now has to make that call whether to push his kids into the sport or let them choose it on their own. If you’ve ever met Fuzzy, you know he is not the type of guy to push anyone into anything. Luckily for him, his son is into BMX and it’s something they can enjoy together. Now watch the video.

Make sure to click through to Fuzzy’s BMX store.

Do you have Eneff Headwear?

Tuesday, August 12th, 2008

Neff doing some free advertising in Canada.

Shaun Neff has built quite the little head covering apparatus empire. We went on a trip to Whistler about four years ago and one night while we were talking in the lodge after a day of riding some epic powder we were exploring the “what ifs” of Neff Headwear blowing up. I think it’s safe to say with this new skate team, Neff headwear has officially blown up. Here is the skate team press release:

Eric Koston, Guy Mariano and Braydon Szafranski join Terry Kennedy to launch the official NEFF HEADWEAR Skate Team.

NEFF HEADWEAR recently added Eric Bork as skate team manager. The new focus at Neff is to design and market product for the skate world. Each skater has designed their own signature cap that will be in the upcoming spring line. Headwear is a highly overlooked niche that Neff has made a top priority. Neff’s goal is to make the best fitting hat, which they finally feel has been accomplished. Neff will debut its new cap fit at ASR, which has been in the works for over three years.

Devun Walsh - Golf Clubs and Snowboards

Monday, August 4th, 2008

Devun is a quiet guy and super laid back. His riding is what comes across as loud, but loud in a good way. Watching Devun snowboard is like listening to one of your favorite songs on a really loud, high quality sound system. Watch a little bit of Devun snowboarding here:

Equally impressive though is watching Devun play golf. There are only 2 people I know of in the action sports world who could probably end up on the tour - Danny Harf and Devun Walsh. Check out Devun’s swing and when he retires from snowboarding - the tour better watch out.

5 Things I would change about the Spudman Triathlon

Monday, July 28th, 2008

The triathlon wasn’t too bad but I did have some issues. There is a 1 mile swim - my time was 21:19. My first transition area(from swim to bike) was 3:00. The bike is 24.5 miles - my time was 1:34:35 (see #3 below). My second transition area (from bike to run) was 2:21. The run is 6.2 miles - my time was 1:06:56. (see #5 below). The race was fun but I would change some things. Next year, I want to shave 30 minutes off of my time - 2 minutes off the swim, 20 minutes off the bike, and 8 minutes off the run.

1. Get a good night’s sleep. Anxiety kicks in and your mind gets rolling. There is really nothing to worry about if you have trained. But still for some reason I went to bed at midnight and woke up at 1:30. Race start time is 7:10.

2. Music - Most races don’t allow you to wear headphones for safety and insurance reasons. But out of 1200 competitors I saw at least 100 people with headphones. It sucks when you train with music and then have to compete in silence. Next year I will be using my ipod.

3. Road bike - I didn’t think I would care that I road my mountain bike in the race but when the 600th person passed me I started to get a little bit pissed. I probably lost 20 minutes in bike time which would have made #5(below) a non-issue.

4. The Swim - I don’t know what I would change but when 200 people start swimming for the same point in a river, there ends up being a lot of punching and kicking. I guess I just need to swim faster.

5. Running - I was good on the first 1.8 miles, but then the spaghetti dinner (which was prepared by volunteers for 2000 people - probably not the most sanitary conditions) decided to try to find an exit early. At 3.2 miles I finally found a port-a-potty. Next year I should be able to shave at least 10 minutes off of my run time.
