#1 My Morning Jacket Z
My Morning Jacket’s 2005 release Z, rules my life. The album that put them on the map contains only 10 tracks and each one is perfect. The opening track “Wordless Chorus” when singer Jim James comes in with his Beach Boys style crooning is enough to make you want to stay up until the sunrises or just move to Hawaii for the rest of your life. Do your friends a favor and show this album to them if they haven’t heard it yet. They’ll love you for it. Favorite Song: “Wordless Chorus”
#2 Kings Of Leon Aha Shake Heartbreak
I don’t know how you’re supposed to listen to this album and not be in a good mood. Everything this band writes is inspiring. All three Kings of Leon albums could be the soundtracks to any camping trip or outdoor party. Aha Shake Heartbreak is their second and catchiest of the three. Caleb Followill’s Hound Dog type singing is a bit jarring at first but once you get into the lyrics and music it will become your favorite aspect of Kings of Leon’s music. Favorite Song: “The Bucket”
#3 Porno For Pyros Good God’s Urge
Porno For Pyro’s second and final release Good God’s Urge is tropical adventure across all the greatest beaches in the world. Perry Farrell and company must have journeyed to some secret island and hung out for a couple months while writing this album. Every time I listen to Good God’s Urge it makes me wish I was a professional surfer but unfortunately I live in Utah so I have to go jet skiing and feel like a poser instead. Favorite Song: “Tahitian Moon”
